Just yet another lousy quiz

May 20th, 2007 by linkie

But I love it!!! Being an unsophisticated person that I am, I easily fall in love with the ABG-ish thingies. Hehehe.

I’m actually trying hard to be bold, but my love for the pop culture seems to be hindering any possible progress. I do subscribe to TIME instead of WHO (Oz’s version of People mag) thou. Primarily because I read WHO mag FREELY in my local newsagent or supermarket :D.

Nuff with the nonsense, come, take my true friend quiz, my friend. Bwahahahhaa

Chocolate Kahlua Cream Cheese Brownies

May 2nd, 2007 by linkie

The only thing that I can cook and might be actually edible by other people is… my brownies… I think. I didn’t get rave review… but at least they didn’t launch any protest.. and my lil sister love my brownies… and it’s been a while since the last time I made one… About a week ago, suddenly a craving for brownies kicked in… well.. actually not brownies… anything with booze in it to be precise. LOL. The chronological order that leads me to finally bake a brownie:

1. Mates hang out at a cool bar in the city, I came by to say hello and sniff around for some potential gossip.s.sss.ssss…. LOL. Take a sip of my mates’ cocktails… The white russian tickle my fancy… Hoho..
2. Surprise", craving for the simpletastic Midori and Sprite or Lemonade kicks in. Found heavily discounted small bottle of  Midori in Safeway Liquor, bought a bottle of Sprite and voila…!!
3. Midori and sprite no longer fun. … ah.. the white russian.. Googled around, found that it actually has Kahlua and some other stuff in it (e.g. vodka, milk, etc etc..) … I want Kahlua with milk!!!
4. Thought about it again… Kahlua and milk… nah… will be bored after the first glass of milk, not a big fan of milk… What about with ice cream??  Google other potential Kahlua contained recipes… Don’t want to buy a bottle of Kahlua only for a glass of coffee flavored milk…. Ideas! Kahlua in a brownie… lovin my friend google, got a great candidate recipe here
5. Decide to bake a pan of  Kahlua Cream Cheese Brownies… with my own version of the base brownie recipe… The Deep Dark Chocolate Brownie that is…
6. Finally baked my own version of Deep Dark Chocolate Marbled Kahlua Cream Cheese Brownie.. LOL…

Here goes the recipe:

Chocolate Kahlua Cream Cheese Brownies

Ingredients:

For Kahlua Cream Cheese Topping:
1 pkg Cream Cheese (250gr)*
5 tbsp butter (roughly 70gr)*
1/4 cup Caster Sugar
1 Egg
1 tbsp Kahlua (1 actually put 2 :p)
*)
softened at room temperature, otherwise it’ll be very hard to mix them

For Brownie:
Same ingredients and method as the Deep Dark Chocolate Brownie minus the nut option, plus Kahlua, But I’ll put it here again anyway. *I know, I’m redundant.

340 gr Semi-sweet/Dark Cooking Chocolate**
150 gr Unsalted Butter***
250 gr/ 1 1/3 cup Brown Sugar
4 egss
1 cup Cake Flour
120 gr Sour Cream
1 tsp Vanilla Powder
1/2 cup Kahlua

**) use 240 gr dark cooking choc if you want to add 100gr choc chip to your brownie
***)222gr Unsalted butter if you don’t have sour cream

Method:

Brownie:
- Butter parchment/cooking paper & dust with flour
-
Melt chocolate, stir in butter until it is melted (Some people melt
butter and chocolate together, I melt choc first and than add butter
later to prevent burning the chocolate)
- Beat the butter n choc mix, beat in sugar, add egg one at a time. Beat until mixture lightens
- Blend in flour, vanilla powder. Do not overmix
- Blend in Sour cream and Kahlua (n choc chip if u’re using any).
- Pour into baking dish/tray.

Kahlua Cream Cheese:
- Mix the cream cheese, butter, sugar, egg and Kahlua, preferably with electric mixer on low speed, until the mixture is smooth and well combined

- Spread the Cream Cheese mixture over the top of the brownie mixture evenly, and swirl it using a skewer or dinner knife to create the marbled effect. Scatter choc chip evenly if u’re using any.

- Bake at 180°C (160°C if using non stick pan) for 50-60 minutes. Be careful with fan forced fan, I don’t turn the fan speed to maximum.
- Cover pan with foil, bake again for 15-20 minutes. (or until the toothpick inserted come out clean)
- better to Refrigerate the brownie overnight before serving.

It’s important not to "burn" the brownie. The brownie should be moist… not dry and crumbly… And suggestion based on experience, it is highly recommended that you serve the brownie with Ice Cream and splash it with a lil bit of Kahlua.. Lolz.. I actually splash a lil bit of Kahlua into my Ice cream + Brownie, cuz I can’t find any trace of kahlua in my brownie.. Hehe… so you might want to adjust the amount of Kahlua for the mixture…

I’m not a professional photographer, and I don’t have any digicam, so kudos to my oldie but goodie SE K750i. Some pictures of my brownie:

Nude brownies:

Pimped brownies:

pimped up brownies, served with vanilla ice cream, strawberries, and splash of Kahlua. I’m not a very artistic person, please be considerable when judging my food presentation skill. To me, as long as they look edible, I’m happy with it. Oh, and I put 2 strawberries cuz one would be very lonely. LOL

I’m lovin my every single bites of the brownie.. Hope you does with yours too!! Hehehehe

PS: I think the strawberries look like tomatoes in the picture. No? …. Hoahoahoahoa

An Inconvenient Truth

March 27th, 2007 by linkie

Yes you read the title right, and No, I’m not trying to steal the title of Al Gore’s recent documentary on global warning as a sassy title for my post on my poor blog which is being ignored by its uncommitted owner for so long. LOL. and yes to you, I love my LOLs and I will never stop using them in my posts. LOL LOL LOL LOL. There you go, u now got an extra 4 LOLz to count. Hey, it’s actually 5 extra LOLz… Nooo now u make it 6.. O_O. Have fun, go mad with them.
So… as you may have predicted. I’ve just watch Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth, a video documentary on global warming
Now, just for some fun, I’ll categorize you guys who reads my blog into 4 categories. According to what? According to ur degree of awareness of the global warming issue. And please don’t take this too seriously, there is no scientific methodology involved in the categorizing. K?

1st Category: You guys that might have been an expert on this issue (global warming that is) will fall to this category. That is you guys who actually read research papers on this issue and write or involved in some research which somehow contribute to the global warming research. I don’t expect to found many of you guys actually hanging out within this category.

2nd: People who are aware of the global warming issue, thus somehow actually doing something in return to ur knowledge and awareness of the issue, e.g. donating for research, using energy efficient appliances, etc. (I know, ‘e.g.’s are lame. but I’m lame, no big deal). I should hope that more of you guys will fall to this category.

3rd: Most of you guys will probably fall to this category. It is for people who once happen to precisely know what global warming is according to their favorite textbook definition, but has somehow forget it, including some other popular terms that most of us will be familiar with, but will probably fail the challenge to give the definition it in 5 seconds without any googling or wiki-eing (whatever…), e.g. greenhouse effect or gas… and for my Indonesian fellas, no Efek Rumah Kaca bukan terjadi karna rumah dan gedung" kita semuanya pake kaca, makanya uv rays nya sinar matahari dipantulin instead of the diserep, and voila! our earth’s getting warmer…. Noooo…. don’t blame the kaca. Ok??? oh and Greenhouse effect = efek rumah kaca … To summarize, this is the category where u say I know what global warming is, but if u ask me give one paragraph of meaningful explanation of it, I’ll probably give up. or I know about it but I don’t know it well enough to give a 2 minutes speech on it on my IELTS speaking test… LOL.. *u know who u are*  U somehow know what’s global warming is, u know that it is a bad thing, but u think this global warming stuff is not for me. It’s for those self proclaimed so-called-environmentalists. If the earth is really getting warmer, so what? Install a new Air Conditioning system and make a whole loads of ice tea.

4th: The last and the most glorious. You belong to this category if you don’t know what global warming is, and you don’t care about it. In fact, you probably will never care.

So, what’s the fuzz with all the categorizing?? Well, actually just to make you guys think which category u are as u read this post… that is, if you prefer to think… Cuz most people who read my blog will probably be my friends who are so bored, they have nothing to do in the middle of the night, they open their frenster account, see a newly updated blog alert in their home page, and click it. and now you’re reading this post. You’re bored, it’s in the middle of the night or early morning, you can’t sleep, and you’re reading this to boost ur appetite for some sleep. You don’t wanna think, cuz thinking wakes u up. Of course my long sentences with high probability of grammatical error will probably wake u up, cuz u have to think to understand them. LOL. So, wheter u like or not, at some point of reading this blog, u probably will have to think, like it or not.

Hopefully now u know which category u will most likely fit into. Me?? I’d say I somehow settling myself to fit in the 2nd one. I do aware of Global Warming issues, I read, watch, and listen to my news and articles on global warming… I’m cutting off my energy consumption (note: exclude food from energy consumption.. HOahoahoahoa), but still use some energy inefficient appliances in my home, merely because I can’t afford to buy the efficient ones…. they’re a lil bit expensive.. out of my budget.. yet… but getting there… LOL.

Some food for thoughts:

Which category are you in? r u happy with it?

Now.. ever heard of Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth? If yes, have u watch it?? If no, please please please buy one, borrow one, or download one (legally of course :p, I borrow mine from a DVD rental, renting original DVDs. there u go), and watch it. With or without ur favorite subtitle V(^-^)V … and after you watch it, I want you guys to ask ur self:

Are u still happy with the category u’re in? If not, which category you would like be in?

When you got the answer, if you feel like moving to another category (hopefully to the 2nd category… don’t expect many people to be in the 1st one), please actually do something. Be it plant a tree, plant a flower, plant a rose, or donate to research or non profit organization aiding the global warming issue, use energy efficient appliances, use green energy, buy hybrid cars, buy electric cars, use bio-fuel, catch public transport, watch more documentaries, google some more articles… whatever it is… do what you gotta do…  U needn’t be a genius to actually do something to tackle the global warming problem. U don’t have to be rich either… u can’t afford energy efficient appliance? maybe u can only afford one with 1 or 2 star ratings.. well then, use it efficiently… dihemat kalo kata nyokap gw…. as for refrigerator, better upgrade to 4 star rating or above… it’s better for the   health of the planet as well as the long term health of ur bank account. My current fridge is of 2 star energy rating, not proud of it, but will probably upgrade to more decent one within this year… hopefully *counting on my paychecks*  Every action counts….

You see, the documentary is so good, it make me actually write a post for it… and will probably buy one from my local DVD store to share with my friends and family. It’s a very good stuff to watch… So good it become a compulsory video to be shown to students in schools across US and some European country.  And not only it’s entertaining it actually load some useful stuff to ur brain… not just some impressions of some blond with laced undies.. nuff said.

Some interesting comments about the movie in my DVD rental websites’:
"If you manipulate the X and Y axis on any graph you can make little things seem really, really big. Interesting that Gore flew around the world on nasty fossil fuel burning planes to promote this. YAWN"  -by some guy.

Yeah, that will do for some of us.. But for me, like it or not I do feel the negative effect of global warming.. Shifting to a  lifestyle that will actually reward me with more money to save and cleaner air to breath, won’t hurt me at all. And if you don’t like the graph… do ur homework, do some research on the internet or ur local library or attend a scientific conference on global warming. That’ll do.

Oh, FYI there’s 14 LOLs in this post, which supposed to be 15, but I replace 1 LOL with 1 Hoahoahoahoa. Correct me if I’m wrong. N catch u guys in the next post… which is another way of saying… I’d probably be too lazy to make another post for my blog, so please do me a favor after u read this post, watch the movie (An Inconvenient Truth), and maybe return to the post for some comment… Haha…
(see, I just dodge another L*L there)

Ham or Egg??

December 13th, 2006 by linkie

If you watch the 2nd season of Grey’s , you’ll know what on earth does the title of this post means.. LOL… It’s a long analogy *sigh*, but basically it’s about getting involved (egg) or getting committed (ham) to something… And me, I’m a getting involved person… commitment for me, is a monster, chasing me everywhere I go. and now that I’m getting older *LOL* , I encounter that creepy monster more often than ever, and it’s getting harder to dodge that monster… Nope, I’m not talking about marriage.. LOL, you gotta have a husband-to-be before you can think about marriage… even getting a husband-to-be requires a commitment (yes my friend, getting a so-called-boy/girlfriend means committing a portion of ur life, ur freedom, ur time, and ur money to someone else)….

And no, I’m not in love.. LOL.. The story I’m trying to tell here is about this blog.. Yup, this blog… It’s been like forever since the last time I post something in this blog… Yes, I’m too lazy to write anything lately.. Even now, I wrote this only because I’m bored to death with my last 2 weeks in Manado.. yuck… There’s nothing to do here!! OK, we have a brand new so-called Shopping Mall… But all they have there are only 4 or 5 lousy stores open, and 2 Christmas trees, one of them is made of Peanuts…roasted… Yes my dear, don’t blame ur eyes, they’re made of  roasted Peanuts (whole peanuts, with the shells still attached), and apparently it’s the tallest Roasted Peanuts Christmas tree in Indonesia ever.. Yeah rite, like there are other stupid people in Indonesia who tried to make Christmas tree from roasted peanuts before. First, most of Indonesians are Moslem, so  about 98% of Indonesians don’t care about Christmas Tree. Second, Indonesians, we live in poverty, you give people tons of roasted peanuts, they will either sell them or eat them… LOLz … Well, I actually pity  all the people that were enslaved by those of Boulevard Mall (that’s what the new mall is named) to assemble some 30m Christmas tree from roasted peanuts…
But at least they have something to do *sigh* I’m bored to death here… I got nothing to do… My life here rotates around  sleep, take a bath, eat, go to rest room, watch some lousy sinetron on TV *LOL*, be a cashier in my parent’s pharmacy, read some old comic book, and texting my mates here…..

Boringgggg!!! I don’t even have any chance to hang out with my friends here, cuz all of them are working now!! Even worst, most of them are young doctors!! They’ve just graduated this year.
Young doctors, they don’t have a life. LOL. Seriously, they work as some kind of intern in the biggest hospital in Manado. They work more than 12 hrs a day, sometimes overnight, they get scolded by the ‘real’, senior, and supposedly expert doctors in the hospital (or hopsital according to George W. Bush), and they don’t even get paid… In fact they pay the hospital for having them as some cheerful slaves… LOLzz.. *Love you guys heaps, and I’m proud of u guys, just try not to kill anyone in the hospital*

But that’s the thing, those young doctors friends of mine, they have commitment. They’re willing to work in an overcrowded hospital, work for more than 12 hrs a day, unpaid, because they’re committed to be a doctor… they’re the ham on top of the table……. and me, I don’t have a commitment even for a friendster blog
*geez linkie, that’s a totally different thing writing a blog for fun and trying to be a great doctor to save people’s life*  I’m the egg on top of the dinner table.

Well, the point is, I don’t even have a commitment for small things (this blog, promises made to my baby nieces and nephews *LOL*, cleaning up my room *hehe*), let alone getting my self committed to bigger things (relationships *friendship that is :P*, uni, assignment, thesis, work, world peace, extreme climate change prevention, stem cell research,…. LOL). Ok, about this blog thing, It’s not actually a big deal… My problem is, I was never able to get myself fully committed to something… At uni, I skip classes, I abandon my assignments *sometimes*, and I hate my thesis. At work I call in sick at least once a week….. and at home… to be honest, I didn’t clean up my room as often as I should be… LOL get the point…. oh, and at church… I’m always late 15-30 minutes every time it’s my turn to serve in the LCD ministry. Talking about commitment…

The point is I’m a ‘getting involved’ person, not ‘getting committed person’. I love to be involved in things, but I run as far as I can once I sniff any possible lurking commitment. and I don’t wanna be like this forever, I need to grow up *even though I don’t want to* and I don’t wanna be some lousy commitment-retarded person…. Gotta learn to be more committed to things… and that shall start with finishing that Roasted Peanuts Christmas Tree in the corner of my room.. LOL… JK.. I don’t even like peanuts….

Mt Buller Snowtrip

August 7th, 2006 by linkie

It’s just an ordinary snowtrip, just like any other snowtrip that happens every winter in Melbourne. Me and my friends from the church went to this snowtrip to Mt Buller last Saturday. The boys did have some fun with the snowboards and ski (or should I say, did have some bruise as well, now you guys finally realized that you’re not as cool as you thought you are… hoho), and me, being the smartest one in the squad, decided to play only toboggan (and snow wars of course) with some other MSF members. Btw, the trip was held by MSF (Multicultural Student Fellowship), the international student organisation founded by the members of our church.

So yeah, it was fun, I got some bruises from the snowball attack from some heartless fellas. It was a lot of fun. Some of the guys went too creative with the snow, they actually come up with this:
Img_1871

Yes, that’s a snow toilet (male toilet for pee-ing… hauhauhaua. excuse moi… hehehe… *sorry cupu*). See, told you, RMIT makes creative people even more creative.. LOL

So anyway, we also succeeded in building a snowman. Though it’s not a huge snowman, it’s cute. And like any other typical Indonesian people, we can’t stand any cute object for too long, we have to take a picture with it. It’s a trip anyway, you gotta have heaps and heaps of pictures from the trip… So we decided to take a picture with the snowman together, using a camera that  I borrowed from my housemate. Little did we know that the camera was on Video Capturing Mode… It’s not my camera! So you can’t blame me for this… For a moment there, I was so confused with the camera, what was wrong with it, did I broke it? How come it can’t take any picture….. So anyway, when we was there we decided to give up with my camera, and use somebody else’s to took the picture… I was disappointed.. I want to have the picture of us with the snowman with my own camera (though it’s not really mine at all… **hehe)… I was so disappointed until I found out that there’s a video accidentally taken by my friend when we were taking picture with the snowman… It was hilarious… and because I’m a warm and kind person, I decided to share the video with you guys here. Hehhehe…

Part 1:

Part 2:

Hope you guys like it. Cuz I like those video so much, esp the first one. hehehhee…and you’re right, pantat gw beneran basah abis itu, cuz I didn’t wear a waterproof pants.

So long Jason…

August 2nd, 2006 by linkie

Jason_mraz_tix_2

I’ve bought this ticket on the first day it went on sale @ ticketeck… I’ve been waiting for the moment where I can see Jason, do his thing live, in person…. Been a great fan of him… I adore his music and his talent. An original artist, always stay true to himself…. Sad but true, I have to sell these tickets on ebay… cuz I have lecture on Monday nite ’til 9.30 pm, and nobody wants to watch the concert with me (i got booted T_T). In times like this, I really feel the need to have someone who share the same passion to music like mine, someone I can drag along to watch a concert with me……Sad but true… In time like this, I really miss you Do. If only you’re here in Melbourne bro… I might wouldn’t have to break my heart, selling these tix on ebay….. so sad I wanna cry ………. Well, next time maybe..
